Eenou-Eeyou Community Foundation Provides $600,000 Towards Capacity Building Within the Cree Nation Youth Council
The Eenou-Eeyou Community Foundation is proud and happy to provide $600,000 over a five-year period to support the hiring of a new full-time staff person to help the Cree Nation Youth Council (CNYC) carry out its vital work for Cree Youth.
This development comes after the Foundation received a $3 million donation from the Mastercard Foundation last summer.
“The Foundation is committed to supporting growth and development initiatives for Cree Youth, and this funding really shows that commitment,” explained Dr. Sarah Pash, EECF Chairperson. “I am excited about the opportunities this will unlock for empowering the Cree Nation Youth Council.”
After meeting with Youth Grand Chief Adrian Gunner, Deputy Youth Grand Chief Jordan Masty, and Tania Larivière, Coordinator of Projects with the Cree Nation Government Department of Social and Cultural Development, CNYC expressed their need to build capacity internally. The CNYC requires this internal support to deliver programs and initiatives laid out in their strategic action plan.
“On behalf of the Cree Nation Youth Council, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Eenou-Eeyou Community Foundation for this incredibly impactful contribution,” said Youth Grand Chief Adrian Gunner. “This support is not just a financial boost; it’s an investment in the future leaders of Eeyou Istchee.”
